 
History1892 to 1952
- Factory originally opened in 1892 making a range of products over the next 60 years which included railway rolling stock, steel bridge sections and munitions
1952
- The Marinite company was set up as a joint venture between Johns Manville and Cape to service the shipbuilding market in the UK and mainland Europe
- The original Marinite board had a Calcium silicate matrix reinforced with Asbestos fibres
1973
- Johns Manville bought out by Cape and the company was renamed Cape Boards and Panels
- Due to a declining marine market, Cape Boards and Panels decided to diversify into the construction industry
1977
- Due to increasing awareness of the health risks associated with Asbestos, a range of Asbestos free board formulations were developed and allowed Cape to target these at a wider market range.
1979
- Products made on the main manufacturing line (Magnani) were completely moved over to the asbestos free formulations
- Last manufacturing run using asbestos on the filter press
1980’s
- Queens Award For Industry received for 2 categories – Technological Achievement & Export Achievement
- With the increase in the number of out-of-town shopping centres (Lakeside, Metro Centre, Trafford Park) the demand for VERMICULUX® increased rapidly alongside steady growth of sales through European sales companies in France, Germany, the Netherlands and the Far East
1990
- Cape bought Siborit in Germany and transferred production of Monalite and Duratec from Glasgow to a more modern filter press which had recently been installed at the Siborit factory in Luneburg
1998
- Cape closed the Siborit factory and returned production of MONALITE® and DURATEC® to Glasgow by moving the Siempelkamp filter press
2002
- In September 2002, Promat announced the acquisition of key assets of the Cape Calsil division and the Glasgow factory became part of Promat.
2005
- On 5th June 2005 Promat UK and Promat Glasgow introduced SAP in order to form a seamless, financial integration with the Etex reporting system and to allow improved local management control
2007
- Work commenced on the major installation of the Promat PROMATECT®-L500 process at Glasgow to address the manufacturing under capacity for this product within the Promat group
2008
- On January 25th the first trailer load of 30mm Promat PROMATECT®-L500 was successfully manufactured and left the factory bound for Promat France
