Outstanding Passive Protection on Display at FIREX 2014

This year’s Firex International exhibition will give visitors the opportunity to find out more about the vast range of products and services offered by the UK's leading provider of passive fire protection, fire glazing and high performance insulation solutions.

Promat’s extensive product range is supported by numerous third-party approvals and accreditations which allow those products to be specified in complete confidence. Promat’s comprehensive technical support simplifies the specification process by providing customers with expert advice and guidance at every stage of the process - from the initial system design through to final installation.

For over 50 years Promat has pioneered the development of products that range from fire protection boards and penetration seals, through to fire resistant glazing and spray products. These products are designed to comply with modern, stringent fire protection requirements, and coupled with the knowledge and expertise at its disposal this allows Promat to create proven, effective and fully-integrated fire protection solutions.Promat Puts Outstanding Passive Protection on Display at FIREX 2014

Proven performance

Leading the way on the Promat stand will be Promat SUPALUX® - a lightweight, non-combustible calcium silicate board which has been proven on thousands of buildings over the last 30 years, providing between 30 and 240 minutes fire protection. Promat has recently refocused attention on this product and produced new literature which restates the many Promat SUPALUX® benefits.

Clearly a superior solution

Underlining Promat’s strength in fire resistant glazing solutions will be Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS - a glazing system that allows designers and architects to make full use of natural light within their buildings. Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS achieves this by using simple butt joints which eliminate the need for mullions in large areas of fire-resistant glazing.

This allows large glazed screens to be created without vertical or horizontal framing, while still providing fire ratings of up to 120 minutes.  Promat also supports Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS with outstanding specialist technical support that helps architects transform their glazing ideas into reality. Many high-profile construction projects have benefitted from the advantages which Promat®-SYSTEMGLAS offers, including Belfast’s Mater Hospital, the Discovery Museum in Gateshead, plus London’s National Portrait Gallery and BT Tower.

Heavy duty protection

For heavy duty applications which require a more robust fire protection solution, Promat will also be displaying Promat DURASTEEL® which has been used successfully on many different types of project including rail and metro stations, military developments, petrochemical facilities and commercial premises.
This non-combustible composite panel has a core of fibre-reinforced cement, which is mechanically bonded to punched steel sheets on both surfaces. This gives DURASTEEL® great strength, impact resistance and durability, along with exceptional fire resistance, making it ideal for use in partitioning, ducting, door and ceiling applications. There have been many occasions when DURASTEEL® has successfully performed during a fire, and post engineering assessments have shown that the product remains suitable for use, and therefore no replacement board was required.
